WHO IS DOUG MARLOWE? Raised in Rockville Centre, NY, living in an old house, my brother and I became hands-on problem solvers. Mom taught us how to paint and wallpaper (Dad was not very handy). We learned plumbing power, carpentry, and mechanics. My brother went into the trades but I was fascinated by the science and engineering that made things work. My passion was photography. I took a correspondence course and I built a darkroom in that old house and worked many jobs to pay for my supplies and my cameras, a Nikon and a Rollei twin-lens. Encouraged by a relative who was a photo-scientist, I enrolled at Rochester Institute of Technology on scholarship and graduated with a BS in Photographic Science and Instrumentation. My family's business was printing, and my dad used to say someday we'd go from the computer right to the press. I was determined to play a part in that transition. Along the way, I fine tuned my skills at observation, documentation, and analysis. My mantra was and still is, "What can we do to make things faster, better, and safer?"
AN INTERNET PIONEER Before I founded teachITnow, Inc. I worked on developing and managing wireless and wired communications networks. My team of engineers assisted in the birth of the Internet. I also worked on and managed projects involving fiberoptic and structured cabling for local, regional, state, and national connectivity. In addition, these new technologies required retraining the workforce; I helped develop much of the documentation and training materials for an entirely new workforce. Today, I continue to develop and deliver training for a broad section of the communications industry.
A WEBSITE DESIGNER As an experienced technical writer, I started coding websites early on, seeing the benefit such a tool would have on managing the transfer of knowledge. Today, I still develop websites and provide professional assistance to small and large businesses and organizations in all aspects of using the Internet. Check out Doug's LinkedIn Profile and my professional recommendations.
A LEARNING ARCHITECT I help adults gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities to master a process. The methods I use depend on the client's budget, schedule, and needs. While I am a subject matter expert (SME) in many technical areas, I am able to add team members, as needed, from a pool of experts to assist me. Some of my clients include: British Telecom, Comcast, Cox Cable, Charter Communications, AT&T, universities, and non-profits. Our 16th Year Founded in 2008. Let our clients tell our story. A national cable construction contractor tapped us to build and manage their website and document and automate their business processes. We standardized their processes, built a Construction Resource and Safety Training library, added decision making tools, and streamlined their operations.
A project and change management company needed someone to help with technical documentation on an enterprise-wide change-management project for Time Warner Cable. We assisted the team by assembling and maintaining all the processes to identify where they could be improved, modified, or eliminated. We provided the client with employee back-office support (Microsoft Online, Cloud, AWS, GitHub, Slack, and more), and marketing & sales assistance (PipeDrive)
A learning house had a request by Comcast to edit the training materials for field technicians coming from overseas. We started editing, were asked to produce case studies, and then an entire curriculum.
A Palm Beach Gardens Mediterranean restaurant called us to work on their POS and Wi-Fi network and do some PC house cleaning. We also took over their advertising and social media presence and now they use the major hospitality rating sites and Facebook for advertising specials, live entertainment, and have hundreds of engaged customers. They took it all over and are doing great. We were happy to help them thru the pandemic. Great food in Palm Beach Gardens, by the way ALADDIN
Gallery 22, Boca Raton Artist Yaacov Heller needed support on his computers, Internet accounts, websites, email, Facebook, and help with Photoshop.
Maher & Maher needed a subject-matter expert to assist in creating courses for Cox Cable. We provided content, and joined the team of instructional designers to learn the craft. We produced storyboards, diagrams, activities, and assessments.
British Telecom needed a sales and support trainer to visit their service centers throughout the UK. We developed the decks, an online software simulation of the product, mentoring guides, and a classroom guide for students and instructors. We traveled to the UK and spent almost a month in country, deploying the training.
Empire Settlement Funding needed a process development person to automate their contracts department. We took a process from six days down to nine minutes and automated all the processes using Salesforce and QuickBooks. Three people were able to do the job of ten. We also took over their marketing department, producing postcards, billboards, and ads for publication.
Auction Services International needed to automate their processes and create a company Policy and Procedure Handbook. We used Salesforce to automate their processes and tied it to a procedures manual.
NCTI needed a cable TV specialist who could develop lessons for a variety of topics. We developed over 50 lessons, updated others, and developed and produced animated videos. We also wrote and edited over 400 Jeopardy-like questions for the cable industry's "Cable Games."
